A new pair of headphones, the Christmas presents you’ve been meaning to choose, or a replacement for an appliance that’s on its last legs: Black Friday and Cyber Monday can be useful times to shop. Start with what you want to buy and what you’re happy to spend, then see whether the offers make that purchase worthwhile.
When are Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2026?
Black Friday is Friday 27 November 2026. Cyber Monday follows on Monday 30 November. Retailer promotions can run outside those dates, so the name of the day won’t tell you when a particular offer starts or finishes.
As checked on 21 October 2026, we haven’t yet verified Amazon UK’s customer dates for its 2026 Black Friday and Cyber Monday event. The calendar dates above are confirmed; Amazon’s sale window, offers and any special terms still need checking.
Use Prime for presents and your own shopping
Ordering presents a few at a time, or replacing something you use every day? Prime includes One-Day Delivery on eligible items and access to exclusive member offers. Delivery availability depends on the item, address and when you order; check the details for your basket.
You can use the membership between orders too, with benefits including Prime Video with limited ads and Amazon Music Prime. Our Prime guide explains what is included and which other subscriptions cost extra.
Try Amazon Prime free for 30 days
Try Amazon Prime free for 30 days if your account is eligible. Check your offer and renewal price before joining: the trial becomes a paid membership unless cancelled before it ends. This is for you as the shopper, not a subscription gift for someone else. Read our Amazon Prime guide
Try Prime free at AmazonThe 30 days begin when you join, so fit the trial around the shopping you plan to do. If you already have Prime, use that membership. You can normally shop without joining; check individual member-only offers and the arrival estimate for your order.
Put the purchase on your list first
For Christmas shopping, make a list of people and useful present ideas before browsing. Our Christmas gift ideas can help you choose; Secret Santa and stocking fillers have different budget, recipient and size considerations. A cheaper item is only a good present if it suits the person.
Buying ahead for a birthday, anniversary or visit can make sense when you already know what they’d like. Check how long the gift will keep, whether their size or preferences might change, and whether you can return it after they open it. Food, cosmetics and personalised items need their own checks.
You might be buying for yourself, replacing something worn out or finally upgrading equipment you use regularly. Decide which improvement matters: quieter commuting, more useful cooking space or a better fit with your existing kit. That gives you a reason to compare particular models rather than collect discounts.
Set an overall spend as well as a limit for each purchase.
Write down the exact model or essential features, including any accessories you need.
Note the price you would be comfortable paying before the sale begins.
Keep an alternative in mind where you have a genuine choice.
Compare the exact item behind the saving
Similar names can hide different purchases. An e-reader may have a different generation, screen or reading ecosystem; a handheld game console might be a standalone console, a handheld PC or a device that relies on streaming. The discounted version needs to do the job you have in mind.
For noise-cancelling headphones, compare comfort, device connections and what the noise reduction actually does. With an air fryer, check usable cooking capacity and the space it takes on the worktop. An accessory bundle is worthwhile when you want its contents, rather than simply because it contains more pieces.
Compare the final price of that exact version, including delivery and any required extras. Check new, used or refurbished condition, who sells it and who dispatches it. A percentage reduction against a reference price doesn’t establish that it is the lowest price or the best choice for you.
Where Amazon provides a price-history link, look at how the product’s price compares with earlier prices. Availability and the view shown can vary. Use that history alongside the specifications and checkout total; it won’t tell you whether an unwanted purchase has become useful.

Browse current Amazon dealsShould you wait for Cyber Monday?
There’s no reliable rule that Black Friday is always cheaper, or that the same item will fall further on Cyber Monday. Offers, stock and included bundles can change between the two. If the right purchase reaches a price you’re happy with and the delivery and return terms work, that is a sensible point to decide.
If you wait, compare the actual Cyber Monday listing again. The colour, storage, seller or included accessories may have changed. Avoid buying a second version just to chase a smaller headline price before you understand the first order’s cancellation or return arrangements.
For presents, work backwards from when you’ll give them
Christmas Day may be later than the useful deadline. You might need a present for an office exchange, a family visit or a parcel you are sending on. Allow time to check the item, wrap it and deal with a problem.
Before ordering, read the particular item’s return deadline, condition requirements and any return costs. Check whether a gift return is available. We haven’t verified a special 2026 Christmas return extension, so don’t assume every seller or purchase will be covered by one. Read Amazon UK’s returns guidance as well as the conditions for the item you choose.
For a strategy board game, check the edition, player count and whether it is a complete game or an expansion. For a coloured pencil set, compare the useful colours and drawing materials rather than the box count alone. These details matter just as much when the gift is discounted.
Keep subscriptions and everyday purchases in the plan
A subscription offer for your own reading or listening is different from a gift someone else can redeem. Check whose account receives it, how long the introductory offer lasts and what happens afterwards. Our guides to Audible, Kindle Unlimited and Amazon Music Unlimited separate those decisions.
For everyday supplies or household replacements, compare the quantity you will actually use, storage space and the full cost. Check whether the selected purchase is a one-off order or a recurring delivery. If you split payments, compare the total amount payable and the repayment terms as well as today’s payment.
