This notice explains how Stephen Angel trading as GiftAim ("GiftAim", "we", "us") handles personal information when you use this website or contact us.

Who is responsible for your information

The data controller is Stephen Angel trading as GiftAim. Our correspondence address is Unit 137984, PO Box 7169, Poole, BH15 9EL, United Kingdom. Please use our contact form for privacy questions or requests. They may also be emailed to privacy@giftaim.com.

Information we collect

• Contact details and message content you choose to submit through our contact form.
• Your selected country, stored in a functional cookie so GiftAim can show relevant shopping options.
• Your selected Finder layout, stored in a functional cookie so Finder pages can keep using Grid or List as you move around GiftAim.
• Consent choices stored by our cookie consent manager.
• Website usage information collected by Google Analytics only after you consent to analytics cookies.
• With analytics consent, combined daily counts of Gift Finder filter combinations and whether matching gifts were available. These contain occasion, interests, the shopping country and broad budget bands, without visitor identifiers, search terms or full page addresses.
• Technical and security information recorded in server logs, such as an IP address, browser details and request time.

Where our hosting platform supplies a country code, we may use it during the request to suggest another supported country. The suggestion never forces a redirect. GiftAim does not retain the hosting platform's country code; consented Finder totals record the shopping country used for the results. Google Analytics may derive approximate location information after consent, but GiftAim does not ask for precise location or create visitor profiles.

How and why we use it

• We process contact messages to respond to and manage requests, based on our legitimate interests in operating GiftAim responsibly or, where applicable, to meet a legal obligation.
• We remember your explicit country, Finder layout and cookie choices to provide the experience you requested and demonstrate those choices, based on our legitimate interests and compliance responsibilities.
• We process technical and security logs to protect GiftAim, investigate faults and prevent misuse, based on our legitimate interests in running a secure website.
• We use Google Analytics only with your consent.
• With your consent, we use combined Finder totals to understand demand and improve our gift selection. Authorized content-planning tools can read these summaries.

Who receives information

We use service providers for website hosting, email delivery, productivity tools and, with consent, Google Analytics. They may process information for us under their own contractual and security arrangements. Shopping links take you to independent retailers whose privacy practices are governed by their own notices.

When you follow a shopping link, the retailer receives the normal information associated with a web request and may receive an affiliate identifier in the URL. GiftAim does not sell personal information, use it for cross-context behavioural advertising, or create visitor profiles.

International transfers

Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards provided by data protection law.

How long we keep it

Contact submissions are normally kept for up to 12 months. Your selected country and Finder layout are stored on your device for one year, and cookie-consent choices for six months unless the policy changes sooner. Google Analytics event and user data is configured to be retained for 14 months. Server logs and other records are kept only for as long as needed for security, legal or accounting purposes. GiftAim's daily Finder totals are retained for 14 months, with older totals removed by daily cleanup. Withdrawing analytics consent stops future collection and clears the current tab's duplicate-counting storage. Existing combined totals cannot be linked back to you for individual removal.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict personal information, object to processing, receive portable information, or withdraw consent. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office. Contact us first if you would like us to help with a concern.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as GiftAim or its service providers change. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
