Personalised Map Print: Put a special place on the wall

A place can hold a whole story. A personalised map print turns an agreed location into artwork, with the right detail, names and date to make the connection clear.

Begin with the exact spot

Think of the address or place the recipients would recognise: a first home, the venue where they married or somewhere they love visiting. Check the location carefully, particularly where several roads or venues share a name. The map should tell their story, not leave them working out why that town was chosen.

This is a print of the land and streets. A personalised star map print is the separate choice for a night-sky keepsake, while a custom house portrait shows the building itself.

Choose the amount of detail

A close crop can give one address a strong focus; a wider area can include a coastline, familiar park or neighbouring places. Look at the print's actual size and contrast, not just its appearance on a large screen. Tiny road names will not necessarily be readable from across a room.

Where a proof is available, inspect the marker as well as the wording. Confirm spelling, names and dates, and ask about old street names if the memory is from a different period. Modern map data is not automatically a historical reconstruction.

A print, a file or a framed piece?

Read the selected format before paying. Map searches also return downloads, pin boards and light-up plaques; they are different gifts with different work left to do. For a finished paper print, establish its dimensions, paper and whether the frame is supplied.

Personalised artwork takes time to prepare and post. Keep the agreed details, leave room for corrections and read the seller's proof and return arrangements. A simple map with the right location can carry the meaning without a long quotation or permanent lettering that the recipient would not choose.
