Custom House Portrait: A familiar front door, kept in view
A portrait of a meaningful home can celebrate the place where a life together took shape. Choose a clear source photo and an artwork style the recipient would want on the wall.

Pick the home with the story
It might be the first home a couple shared, a family house or somewhere they have just left. The most impressive building is not necessarily the one that matters most. If the place has difficult memories, a different subject may make a kinder gift.
Supply a clear, well-lit photograph showing the parts to include. The artist cannot recover hidden detail reliably from a blurred photo. Ask whether parked cars, bins or scaffolding can be removed and whether an older photo can guide a changed door or garden.
Decide what kind of artwork is being made
A hand-painted original, a digitally drawn commission and a photograph processed into a painting style are different offers. Read the actual method and final format. A watercolour appearance alone does not mean a person painted the original with watercolours.
Choose around the recipient’s home: a detailed architectural drawing, loose colour sketch or simple line portrait will each feel different on their wall. Request examples of the seller’s usual work rather than expecting the source photo to determine the whole style.
Settle changes before the deadline
Proof: find out whether it is included and how revisions are handled.
Text: verify any address, names and date; there is no need to print a full private address if a short title is enough.
Delivery: distinguish a digital file from a physical print or original, and check frame, mount and postage costs.
Production time starts somewhere in that process, so establish whether the delivery estimate assumes immediate proof approval. Keep the approved version and read custom-order return terms.
A personalised star map print suits a date-and-place memory without choosing a building. If there are many homes and stories to include, a photo album offers more room.
