E-Reader Page-Turning Remote: Keep the story moving from a comfortable spot
A page-turning control can be a useful extra for an e-reader someone already owns. Choose it for the exact device and the way they read, including any case and screen clip.

A brand name is not enough to establish a match
Find out the reader’s exact model and generation before choosing an accessory. Check the remote supplier’s compatibility list, including any software requirements. An e-reader having Bluetooth does not mean that it accepts page-turning commands from any Bluetooth control.
Some remotes work with a separate receiver clipped to the touchscreen. Pressing the handheld control makes that receiver act on the screen. Others connect directly to specifically supported devices. A remote intended for a phone’s reading app may therefore be the wrong choice for a dedicated reader.
Consider the case, clip and buttons together
For a clip-based system, compare its stated opening with the reader and cover together. The contact needs to reach the screen edge without hiding the words or being forced over a thick case. Read the fitting instructions rather than assuming that a list of device brands settles the physical fit.
Confirm what each button does. Some controls advance a page, while others also go back. A handheld clicker and a ring-style remote feel different in use, so choose the shape the recipient would find comfortable. Include the charging needs of both parts when a separate receiver is supplied.
Useful only when it suits the reading position
The remote does not support the screen. A person who likes reading with the device propped nearby will still need a stable arrangement they enjoy using. Someone who prefers holding the reader and tapping its screen may see little benefit in another control.
If you are choosing the reader itself, our e-reader buying guide explains that larger decision, including the book shop and library services they use. For someone who mainly reads printed books, consider a reading light suited to that habit.
