Candle Holder Set: Candlesticks chosen for their home
A set of candle holders can be a lasting addition to a mantelpiece or dining table. Look for a style the recipient likes, with bases that fit their space and holders suited to the candles they use.

Find a place for them before choosing a finish
Imagine the holders on the recipient's mantelpiece, shelf or dining table. Height is only one measurement: a deep base may not fit a narrow shelf, and a wide set can compete with serving dishes. Choose for their home decorating taste, rather than a display you would make in your own home.
Tapers, pillars and tealights need different holders
Check the candle type and diameter against the exact holder. A taper sits in a socket; a pillar needs a suitable support; a tealight needs the right cup. Product photographs may show compatible candles that are sold separately.
A pair can be plenty for a small room. Sets of different heights give more arrangement choices, but check each base and how much space the whole group takes. If they use battery-powered candles, compare those dimensions too.
What are you giving them?
Read the supplied count and whether candles or other accessories come with the set.
Check the material and finish; brass-coloured does not mean solid brass.
Look for stable bases, an appropriate underside and clear care instructions.
Follow the maker's instructions for use and cleaning, including removing wax. Fragile glass and coated metal need different handling, and a decorative holder is not automatically intended for a real flame.
For the room, or for hosting?
For someone who enjoys entertaining, think about the layout of their table and whether tall candles would interrupt conversation. For Christmas, an everyday finish can work beyond the festive season. A Thanksgiving present should suit someone who celebrates and welcomes the gift, without requiring them to change a planned table.
