Roll-Up Puzzle Mat: Roll away the unfinished picture
A flexible puzzle mat wraps around a core for storage, giving a jigsaw fan another way to reclaim a shared table.

A flexible surface, not a rigid board
The puzzle is assembled on the mat, which is then rolled around a tube or other supplied core. Straps hold the roll together. When it is time to continue, the mat is unrolled on a flat surface and the picture can be adjusted if pieces have shifted.
That distinction matters. This is not a promise that every piece stays perfectly fixed. A puzzle board may suit someone who wants their project to remain flat, while a mat can be easier to store in a narrow space.
Choose the size and surface together
Compare the mat's usable dimensions with the finished jigsaw, rather than relying on its advertised piece count. Leave working room around the picture. The mat still needs a supportive table while they are solving; it does not turn a soft couch into a stable puzzle surface.
Felt is common and gives pieces some grip. Rubber-backed alternatives offer a different feel and can cost more. A surface that holds pieces firmly may also make sliding a completed section harder. The recipient's preferred way of assembling is a useful guide.
Read the rolling instructions before gifting
Some sets use a solid or expandable tube; others need an inflatable core. Confirm what is supplied, how it is prepared and whether the set includes securing straps or a storage bag. Roll gently around the proper core, following that product's instructions; folding the mat through a puzzle is a different action.
Choose this for someone comfortable with a little resetting when they unroll it. If preserving exact progress without disturbance is their priority, rigid storage may be the happier choice.
