Give them their next listen—or find your own
For someone whose reading time happens behind a steering wheel or on a long walk, an audiobook membership gives them a choice of what to hear next. A gift membership and a personal Audible subscription are different purchases.
Before buying, ask whether they already use Audible and whether they prefer audiobooks to print. A membership is less useful if they rarely listen, struggle with apps or already have enough books waiting in their library.
How an Audible gift membership works
Amazon sells Audible Premium Plus gift memberships for one, three, six or twelve months. Choose email delivery for the date you want, or a printable gift to hand over yourself. New gift memberships do not automatically renew.
An existing Audible member receives the gift credits together; their current subscription is not extended or replaced. Existing Standard members do not gain all Premium Plus benefits simply by redeeming a gift, so read the account-specific terms before choosing.

Standard and Premium Plus give you different things
Standard offers a monthly audiobook selection to listen to while your membership is active. Unused monthly selections do not roll over, and that listening access ends when you cancel. It is not a monthly book to keep permanently.
Premium Plus uses credits for titles you keep after cancellation. Listening from the included catalog works differently: access depends on an active membership. Check which plan you are choosing and use any remaining credits in line with its cancellation rules.

Will they enjoy using it?
They can listen in the Audible app on compatible devices and download eligible titles for offline listening. Choose a comfortable way to listen before buying accessories; not every recipient wants headphones or another smart speaker.
If you are giving a membership, explain how to redeem it and let the recipient use their own account. A short note suggesting a favorite author can make it personal without choosing every book for them.
