A 0.5 mm pencil balances writing and detail, 0.7 or 0.9 mm leads resist breakage, and 2 mm holders suit expressive sketching. Several sizes are useful only if the recipient will notice the difference.
Grip and balance matter every day

Match lead grade to the work
