Menorah Drip Tray: A measured place for the wax to land
A menorah drip tray gives wax drips a separate surface to land on. It can be a useful gift for a household with a menorah they already like, provided the size, material and care suit their setup.

Measure the whole arrangement
A drip tray is a modest addition to a menorah the recipient already wants to keep. Its job is to catch escaping wax and make cleanup more manageable. It does not hold the candles itself, and a photo showing a menorah on a tray does not mean both are included.
Measure the menorah’s base and the span of the candle holders, then compare the tray’s usable flat area, not just its outer dimensions. A wide border or raised edge can take up some of the advertised width. All feet need a stable, level place to rest; balancing one on a rim defeats the point.
Choose a surface they can care for
Tempered glass, metal and decorative designs offer different looks and cleaning routines. Read the exact material and manufacturer’s guidance instead of assuming that anything sold as a candle tray tolerates direct heat. A patterned glass tray can suit someone who enjoys seeing it on display; an understated finish may work better with an ornate menorah.
Wax removal is a separate buying question. Look for clear care directions, including whether the finish tolerates scraping, soaking or temperature changes. Do not use a cleaning shortcut that the maker advises against. Small feet can help protect a surface from scratches, but their presence alone does not establish heat protection.
Useful protection has limits
A drip tray is not a fireproofing guarantee. It cannot make an unstable menorah, crowded shelf or combustible surroundings safe. Use the menorah and tray only as directed, with appropriate placement and supervision.
Ask whether the household would actually welcome a tray; some already have a suitable surface or use oil rather than wax. If a new Hanukkah menorah is wanted, choose that first and measure for its tray afterward. Give the tray separately from a serving tray: candle wax and food service are different jobs.
