Bath Toy: A little play for the bath-time routine
Floating animals, pouring toys and water-play sets make different kinds of bath-time presents. Choose around the child’s age, the family’s space and how the toy can be cleaned and dried.

Floating, pouring or squirting?
A floating creature can join a little bath-time story. A cup or watering toy offers a different game of filling and pouring, while a squirter needs squeezing strength. Choose the activity the child actually enjoys rather than the set with the most pieces.
How will the water get out?
Open pouring toys, sealed floats and hollow squirters have different cleaning routines. Read the maker’s directions for washing, draining and drying; a tiny opening does not tell you whether the inside can be cleaned. Ask whether the household has somewhere to leave the toy to dry.
Follow the chosen toy’s age label. Bath toys span babies through older children, and controls or loose pieces vary. A toy does not replace the grown-up’s usual close bath-time supervision.
Choose a useful size of set
One wanted toy may add more than another large assortment. Check what is already in the bathroom, how much storage there is and whether suction fixtures need a suitable wall. For a stocking, compare the complete retail package with the opening; a wall-mounted play station belongs with the larger presents.
